The Trick of Thyme
from the Kitchen Chronicles
I trimmed
the rangy thyme
today
carried the cuttings away
and wrapped them in parchment
tied with twine
knowing
they’ll soon contribute their
essence to a dish, a meal
sublime yet elementary.
That’s how
those wily herbs work.
So tricky.
Listen to me recite Wily here☝🏼
I’ve spent a lot of time lately refining and rewriting poems. Stacks and stacks of poems. This morning I decided I’m changing gears and releasing some of them here. The goal is to give you a glimpse into my day-to-day through simple poems about life and the ordinary yet profound moments that make up a really good one.
I hope you enjoy this and will share your thoughts in the comments below. Or share it with your people if you think they’d enjoy it too.
Here’s to the simple, good life! 🥂

Beautiful photo and words. I love this kind of simplicity, Kim.
Love the poem. And the vignette too.
