That is a nicel little poem. Thanks for the voice-over. You have a nice, soft-spoken voice, calming, relaxing.

Daniel, I'm glad you found me here, read the piece and shared your thoughts. Calming is a great thing to be in this wild and raucous world, so thank you for that kind assessment.

I start the day by reading a couple of poems and meditate or do yoga or write. I look at the news later in the day. Heather Cox Richardson, the Contrarian, the NYT. I read lots of poetry.

I don't pay too much attention to news these days. Inevitably, I do see headlines and short blurbs, but I do my best to avoid being drawn in. I find spending time in Nature is my best medicine. Even if it's a few moments in the morning listening to birds sing and the Sun rise. For me, I often turn to a few books like "The Zen Teaching of Bodhidharma" and "Jonathan Livingstone Seagull" to help me refill my cup. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment, Neil. I appreciate it.

Like you, I find spending time in Nature to be my best medicine. Daily meditation, yoga and a consistent creative practice also help.

I read accurate reporting (ProPublica, the nineteenth, Heather Cox Richardson, Democracy Docket) and for my sanity, active mockery( Jeff Tiedrich, Adam Parkhomenko & Sam Youngman, Ann Telnaes, and Andy Borowitz - all here on Substack). Mindfulness matters!

I totally agree, Vicky! Mindfulness does matter! Two things that have contributed to our current fine mess -- among others -- are mindless scrolling and thoughtless consumption of information.
